Refresher lessons

Refresher lessons & exam preparation for experienced drivers

Already driving, but your foreign licence cannot be exchanged? Or you have a licence but haven't driven in years? We get you up to Dutch exam level, or back on the road with confidence, with one dedicated instructor.

Who it is for

Two kinds of experienced drivers

You drive abroad, but your licence cannot be exchanged. Then you need to pass the Dutch exam. You don't start from zero: we focus on what is different here, such as priority to the right, cyclists, trams, roundabouts and the way the CBR examiner assesses your driving.

You have a licence, but you haven't driven for a long time. A few lessons are often enough to feel confident again on the motorway, at busy junctions or in the city.

Questions about refresher lessons

I can drive, but my licence cannot be exchanged. What now?

Then you need to pass the Dutch theory and practical exam. Because you already drive, you usually need far fewer lessons than a beginner. We focus on Dutch rules and habits and on what the CBR examiner looks for. Read exchanging a foreign licence.

How many lessons will I need?

That depends on your experience. A trial lesson of 90 minutes shows exactly what you need to work on. Many experienced drivers choose a follow-up package and then take the exam.

Can I book the CBR exam without a full package?

Yes. You can combine single lessons or a follow-up package with a CBR practical exam (€350). We book the exam for you once you are ready.

I have a Dutch licence but haven't driven for years. Can I take a few lessons?

Of course. A refresher course is tailor-made: we start with what you find difficult, such as motorways, roundabouts or busy city traffic.

I already drive in my home country. Do I still need lessons?

Usually fewer, but some. The Dutch practical exam tests local rules and habits, such as priority to the right, cyclists, trams and roundabouts. A trial lesson shows exactly what you need to work on. See refresher lessons for experienced drivers.

What are the biggest differences in Dutch traffic?

Priority to the right at equal junctions, lots of cyclists with their own lanes and priority, trams, shark-teeth lines and many roundabouts. Read Dutch traffic rules that surprise internationals. Read cyclists and trams in The Hague and driving on Dutch motorways.
